Ribosome Biogenesis Giant Steps for a Giant Problem
نویسنده
چکیده
In this issue of Cell, the Hall group describes how the rapamycin-sensitive TOR signaling network controls ribosomal protein (RP) gene expression via the Forkhead-like transcription factor FHL1 in budding yeast (Martin et al., 2004). These findings represent a crucial advance in our understanding of the mechanism by which TOR regulates ribosome biogenesis in response to environmental cues.

Orbital Extension of a Giant Ethmoidal Sinus Osteoma in a 30-Year-old Female
Introduction: Osteoma is a benign tumor rarely found in the paranasal sinuses. Case Report: A 30-year-old female presented with an 8-month history of proptosis of the right eye that was progressing slowly. She was diagnosed with ethmoid osteoma and managed with collaborative surgery at the ophthalmology and otolaryngology departments. After surgery, the patient suffered visual loss that was m...
متن کاملBaby-Step Giant-Step Algorithms for Non-uniform Distributions
The baby-step giant-step algorithm, due to Shanks, may be used to solve the discrete logarithm problem in arbitrary groups. The paper explores a generalisation of this algorithm, where extra baby steps may be computed after carrying out giant steps (thus increasing the giant step size). The paper explores the problem of deciding how many, and when, extra baby steps should be computed so that th...
متن کاملA Giant Hemangioma of the Tongue
Introduction: Vascular abnormalities are relatively uncommon lesions, but head and neck is a common region for vascular malformation which is classified as benign tumors. In this paper, the authors report a rare presentation of vascular malformation in the tongue and its managements. Case Report: An 18 months 2 old child presented with a giant mass of tongue which caused functional and aesth...
متن کاملHistopathologic Features of Giant Cell Arteritis in an Actinic Granuloma Lesion
The association between actinic granuloma and giant cell arteritis (temporal arteritis) has been claimed by some authors. There is a hypothesis that actinic radiation has the principal role in the etiology of both diseases in a similar way. Here, we report a case of actinic granuloma that had characteristic pathologic features of giant cell arteritis in histopathologic examination without clini...
متن کاملCD99: A potential Diagnostic Marker for Differentiating Sub-ependymal Giant Cell Astrocytoma From Other Mimickers: A Report of Five Cases
Background: Tuberous sclerosis (TSC) is inherited as an autosomal dominant disease, characterized by skin lesion and tubers in vital organs, especially brain in three categories including subependymal nodules, cortical tubers and subependymal giant cell astrocytoma. Subependymal giant cell astrocytoma (SEGA) is an indolent neoplasm which usually arises at the cauda tha...
